About

Dalbergia emirnensis is a species of legume in the family Fabaceae. It is found only in Madagascar. It is threatened by habitat loss.

Where it grows

Dalbergia emirnensis is known only from the Central Highlands of Madagascar at altitudes of 800–1,500 m (2,600–4,900 ft) above sea level. It is most widespread in the Analamanga region, but can also be found in the northern Alaotra-Mangoro region, the north-eastern corner of the Vakinankaratra region, and in the area where the borders of the Bongolava, Melaky, and Menabe regions meet. It inhabits humid and subhumid remnant forests, wooded grasslands, and secondary thickets in recently burned areas. It is often found along streams and rivers or near forest edges and primarily grows on sandy or rocky ferrallitic soils.
