Orobanche is a genus of nearly 200 small, leafless, root-parasitic herbs mostly native to the temperate Northern Hemisphere, and it is generally treated as a weed rather than a garden plant. They attach to the roots of host plants and are best recognised by their yellow to straw-coloured, chlorophyll-free stems and snapdragon-like flowers.
